Fares, passes and transfers
SkyTrain fares are based on how many fare-zone boundaries you cross, along with the time and day of travel. Metro Vancouver has three fare zones.
Buses and HandyDART use the one-zone fare at all times; travel across the system is also charged at a one-zone fare when it starts after 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, on weekends, or on provincial statutory holidays.
A single fare is valid for 90 minutes on bus, SkyTrain, SeaBus and HandyDART within the number of zones paid for.
With a Compass Card, Compass Ticket, contactless credit card or Interac Debit used with Tap to Pay, you can transfer among those services on one fare for up to 90 minutes. If your trip includes West Coast Express, the transfer period is up to 120 minutes.
Paying cash on a bus does not let you transfer to SkyTrain, SeaBus or West Coast Express. On SkyTrain, payment options include Compass Card, Compass Ticket, contactless payment card and mobile wallet. Contactless payment is charged at the adult cash fare.
A Compass Card is reloadable and can hold Stored Value or prepaid products such as Monthly Passes and DayPasses. A $5 minimum applies when loading Stored Value, and buying a reloadable card requires a refundable $6 deposit.

Routes to downtown and YVR
SkyTrain’s Expo Line serves both nearby stations, but the available facts here do not specify a route, travel time or transfer pattern from either station to downtown or Vancouver International Airport. Check the route for your particular destination before setting out, especially if you need to connect between services.
For airport-arrival options, the separate YVR-to-Vancouver guide covers getting to the hotel. TransLink publishes SkyTrain timetables and accessible-entrance maps; check the official site before you go.
